About Wandering Palate
We founded Wandering Palate to share our favourite discoveries with the vibrant community of Monton. Our shelves are stocked with the food and drink we’ve carefully sourced over the years through our travels and friendships. Driven by our passion for excellence, we’re committed to bringing you the best of wines, craft beers, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and fresh coffee, alongside other carefully selected treats.
Meet Will & Emma
We’re Will and Emma, a husband-and-wife team with a love of food, drink, travel, culture, and creativity. Wandering Palate was named as a playful nod to our shared passions—where “wandering” reflects our spirit of adventure, and “palate” speaks to our love of fine flavours. Emma is also an artist, bringing her creativity into every detail of our store.
Monton is where we live and work, and we wanted to give back to this community by offering a space filled with quality and care. Every product on our shelves is handpicked. Will personally selects the wines, regularly meeting with wine merchants, tasting, and sourcing from vineyards he visits himself. We believe in constantly offering fresh, exciting options, rotating our in-house wine menu every two to three months to spark conversation and discovery.
Supporting local and independent producers is essential to us. Many of our partners are nearby, like the coffee from Salford roasters, roasted just five minutes away, cheese from Lancashire and herb fed chickens from Yorkshire. We work with suppliers who share our values of quality and passion in everything they do.
Will also hosts wine-tasting events, where guests enjoy unique wine and cheese pairings in a relaxed, welcoming setting. His extensive wine knowledge is shared in a way that’s fun and approachable, so everyone leaves with new tastes and insights while enjoying a relaxed and sociable environment.
